Default Help!! Non existent cam sensor

Hello, im new to the forum. I finally made an account just to ask this question hoping someone here could help me.

I have a 4th gen 4.8 motor. I've converted to 24x crank wheel so I could run an 2000 ECU and have a 1X cam sprocket. I changed the crank sensor to match the trigger wheel and fired up runs okay but won't rev up. Check engine light code for cam sensor low voltage. I never changed the cam sensor. SOOOOO I look up the right cam sensor (05-06 ls2 because the only 12v sensor in the timing cover) and part number from the dealer comes up as the sensor I have now which is a 5v sensor. I CANNOT FIND THIS SENSOR ANYWHERE. People that have had my same problem have all agreed that the necessary sensor is an ac delco black sensor. HOW DO I GET THIS? Please help this drift car get sideways.

Default Allegro Hall Sensor

Hi, the Allegro Hall sensor used will run form 4-24 Volts.
The Data sheet will state this Vcc range.

The chance of a cure is to reverse the TWO outside wires on your sensor connector, the CAS sensor.

The SAME connector will fit BOTH Rear/Front sensors, just the fact of the OUTSIDE wires being REVERSED.

What will that accomplish? I swapped the wires it runs the same. There's multiple cases throughout the forums of people who have the same issue as me and never end of fixing it until they get the BLACK original or AC DELCO (Which they don't appear to make anymore) SENSOR. Does anyone have one or can anyone help me find one? It seems I can't post in the parts classifieds? Maybe I'm too new to the forum.

The 12585545 cam sensor is used in both early LS2 1x & late 4x cam gears.

I assume your using the 12560228 black crank sensor 12560228.

Most of those extension harness are wired wrong. Be sure of your wiring first.

I just went through this as well. Exact same as you. 24x crank and 1x sprocket in a gen 4 engine. Tach never worked, and a cam sensor low voltage code. The harness was wired wrong. If you look right in the connector for the sensor you have, it should tell you which is which.

I corrected my wiring, and it still didn't work. Out of desperation i replaced the sensor with another ls3 sensor and that fixed it. It's like The incorrect wiring roasted the sensor.

Ground is the middle. Look inside the sensor connector for which terminal has the + symbol. The positive wire goes there. The other side will be the signal wire

See how it goes. All those harness connectors can somehow cross more than once so just make sure it's correct right at the sensor. If it still doesn't work then a new sensor may be needed

Good info Big Hammer. I'm doing the same gen4 block to gen3 control swap and bought a Casper's extension harness. I've been seeing all this about the harnesses being wrong so I e-mailed Casper's about mine 3 weeks ago...no response. I'll look for the + in the sensor. When I figure all of this out, I'll post what color wires need to be where at which plug.

Thanks for the info big hammer. That was the cure. Turns out it will fry the sensors if the wires on not correct. I corrected the wires (signal left, ground middle, power right) and put a new sensor in and code is gone. Car revs and starts without backfiring! Problem solved!!
