If it's got Titanium valves, you'll need them to keep the valve tips from wearing.

As was said, if the are titanium valves, they require lash caps to prevent the valve tips being chewed up.
Are they titanium valves?? Or do you know??

Please clarify as to the type of caps that are on that must be removed. IF they are lash caps, they must stay on the valves to prevent valve damage.
Sounds like you should contact the party you got the heads from to clarify the issue.

Looks like the porter hit the water jacket just outboard of the sparkplug hole in that 1st pic! Better get them pressure checked...

Default lash caps, intake valves

The intake valves appear to be coated titanium valves, that's why they are black. What he is trying to tell you is to make sure you have lash caps installed on the tip of the intake valves where the rocker arm rides on them. Titanium valves need a lash cap to prevent wear on the tip of the valves.
I don't think the head has a hole machined in it as someone else posted. It appears to be the original cast surface of the chamber that has not been machined during the chamber porting process. This is normal. I am sure there are areas in the ports that are untouched as well.

I am gettingtold the black on the valve is a cap, from what I'm questioning him on unusual coloring for a new valve...I don't have the heads yet, these are from his listing on Corvette Forum classifieds...I don't think he knows what lash caps are,he just said the label was his answer to the coloring....So waiting for his call in the morning

What they are saying is the reason the valve looks like that is because it has a black coating found on titanium valves(it's supposed to be black), The sticker that says "don't forget lash caps" Is there as a reminder to who ever is putting them on to not forget to install lash caps, No lash caps=damage.

Here is what can happen if you forget the caps

I think there's a lot of error in forming grammatically correct sentences here.

I was very confused. But I knew exactly what a lash cap was. I think the seller is probably confused by the questions of the OP...

I figured you did but don't think the seller or OP understood each other, Hopefully the OP does now or he can send me those heads and I'll see if I can make them work
