Not trying to knock that build as my buddie been told me about it but let's look at that combo overall and how it performs.
Car weight is 2800-2900 lbs fox body
Compression is 12.5:1
That intake looks to be the mast unit which is a single plane intake
Car trapped 138 mph in the 1/4
Camshaft is way over 270 @ .050
I'm sure it'll do well with a 5k to 6k stall
Richard Holeder already proved awhile back that a intake swap alone can be worth 60 horses.
That's rolling on naturally aspirated period and I respect it as I love all motor builds.
However a fox body mustang is 600 lbs lighter than a F body car on average.
Everybody know less weight is always better when drag racing.
It's some cars on board here with 376ci-416ci that traps 130 mph in the quarter with a F body platform using cams with 240-250 duration camshafts that's not gutted out with a better steetable fast type intake that's below 12.0 compression. Hell its even a 402ci car that traps 131mph on a 17 inch drag radial and weighs 3750 with the the driver!!
Basically what I'm saying it's not hard to get 8 mph out a car with a 600 lb weight difference and more compression not to mention a better Valvetrain and intake which I already mention. Me personally I know which one I rather have on a long trip or on a hot sunny day. To each has his own tho....

Shout out to my bro in Houston they keep banning for informing me of some info. Here you go big Hammer!! Now what's your excuse now?
Crossbreed383
My old engine made just under 800 corrected for sea level.
Ran 9.20 at 147 w a tight converter at 2875pds at 6000 ft D/A
In a 2750 pd car in Jersey, w a header upgrade and correct converter, in near 0 D/A car ran 8.58 off the trailer
416-14.23 compression
Callies rotator-Wiseco gas ported 5cc dome
Cammotion solid roller-27x-28x @ .050
TFS 245 with some bowl, pushrod to short turn work by Tooley w a NO2 exhaust port
Mast intake, 4500 1100 carb
1-7/8 headers built for car( correct length, merge ,etc)
Converter went 6200 but really needed 6700-6800
4.30 gear on a 275 Pro
Basically off the shelf parts that were gently massaged is all
Here is a slip I found under carpet last week cleaning out car lol
I hope it was from a qualifier ..... don't look at reaction time
84' LSX Mustang/Hertz Rent-a Car5.82@116 w 1.26 60 ft 9.20@147 ALL MOTOR IN 5900ft of D/A on 275 radials

Nice.....but that fox body likely has a 2800lb or less raceweight.
Why is anyone looking for excuses here?
My buddies dirt hr motor made 740 with off the shelf gmpp ls3 heads and only 12.5 compression. Interesting the different combis out there.
Another buddy went 9.6 with a cathedral headed hr 383 in his drag car. Lots of combos out there. What sets some apart from others is the simplicity of them imo.

You can make anything fast IF Properly set up: Factory or Aftermarket/ rectangular or cathedral. Being Set up Properly makes everything. A dyno is just that a dyno and a ET is just that a ET. You could have a car Gen3/4 that makes 600 rwhp that still loses to a Gen 1 406 set up properly. So better said, yes the cathedral heads make better low end TQ while the rectangular ports tend to be a little higher. Funny thing is gear or stall the car or vehicle Correctly and you can't tell the difference. Come on you guy's. A engine nor heads equate to the entire car. The over build and goal intended is the main question. Your Budget comes 1st.

Big Hammer, what are your thoughts on the MAST cathedral 275cc and 295cc on a big cubic inch motor? How do you think they would stack up against say the MAST LS3 heads? Do you think being 275cc and 295cc respectively that they would create more, or just as much, top end power as that of the MAST LS3 heads? Those big MAST cathedral port heads have always intrigued me, but you don't see much about them in terms of setups/dyno number/ET's.

LMAO!! You a trip fella.... now you trying to bring in a LS7 head into the discussion when you was just bragging about factory LS3 castings. Everyone on here factory vs factory.. the Ls7 head outshines a LS3 head. The Ls7 head come with a cnc job right from GM.

Why does hammer care if people "hate" on ls3 heads? Put your combo together & post the dyno graph & results.
Certain people "hate" on my combo repetitively. This is how much I care..

Oh well you were comparing aftermarket cathedrals to stock ls3 castings for some reason
