Default Building a 408

OK so I picked up a Lq4 block the other day with the plan of building a stroker out of it. Have some questions and looking for any input. I plan on running this in a 77 camaro drag/race only car.
so here is a few questions
Carb or fuel injection?
What stroker kit did u buy?
What fuel are u running?
What kind of power are u making?

Carb is cheaper yet I'm running fuel injection.
You have a number of stroker kits available... I used Eagle
I have 2 setups ones for pump gas the other for racing fuel
Thinking well over 700 with either.

I will say this it all depends on what your wanting. The cost can break you, still have to buy parts for the race gas set-up. I'm over 25k and still counting, trans included yet I did buy the best parts available, and if Sam Tech along with a few guy's from here and YB used it I bought it. Not mad at all. You can build one pretty cheap if you stay with the Carb setup. *Budget* is the key. On HP levels you can get anywhere from 500 to 800+ @ the flywheel on a N/a iron block 402 thru 416. Compression and RPM and depending on what type of intake you may want to use. Budget is your main thing to be concerned with along with getting the best Bang for your $. All the little stuff adds up quick.

So true, on hard to budget but you Only live once. I'm still specing a another top-end setup besides the two I have. But you can get right around 700+ with a higher compression engine and a Carb with a MSD box and still run a hydraulic roller. Very simple and easy on parts. Flyin did it so can you. With factory heads Ls3 on E85 and a 402. If the car get's to around 3000 pounds your in the high 9's very low 10's if geared and stalled correctly. The small things help make HP such as: Vacuum pump, properly sized cam and running the highest compression you can get. Later make it a solid roller and your in the upper Upper Echelon with starting with just a junkyard block.

I am planning to run a solid roller cam and a set of cnc ported Ls3 heads. E85 is the fuel I have been thinking about running but really don't know yet

Now you talking! 800 fwhp is possible with the right amount of RPM and cam with some Cojones for lift. Add the little things like G-z vacuum pump that's good for around 20 hp.
Cam will be in the 270's range for duration and .730+ for lift to get to 800 fwhp.

Chris Frank does a nice job on them and has too many Ls3 combos doing very well Flyin is one. Made 709 fwhp with E85 and a Smallwood tiny Hydraulic roller cam 240ish with no vacuum pump. Ran 9.60's in a car under 3ooo lbs. He'll get 9.20-.40's once he gets some things sorted out. Kinda what I'm shooting for but with more Hp with either combo and around the same weight thinking around 2700 to 2800 lbs & bigger tire 305-315's. 8's? IDK but my end goal.

Check your PM I'll send you some simple builds. That run 9's take what's wrote and run with it. Learn from them and run faster or slow it down some your choice.
