408 is sold..picked up one of the last ERL sleeved alum 5.3's...heads are FRH prepped Brodix BR7's with port matched CID. I plan on having this combo on an engine dyno for the same reason. The track tells all!

That's awesome. Always wanted one of their blocks. Did you happen to get a super deck with the 6 bolt option?

I was always really impressed with your 408 results. I'm sure the new build will be a monster as well.

Got my Trend 7/16" .165" wall pushrods in. These things are monsters! But there's still plenty of clearance in the heads. Almost wonder if it would take 1/2" ones...

Compared to a stock PR lol

Just waiting on my MLX headgaskets... I have a brand new set of cometic MLS here. But I want to try the newer MLX ones. They're supposedly being built for me and drop shipping from cometic. If it takes too much longer it's going together with what I have.

Something else I just ran into is something is scraping inside the oil pan when I rotate the crank. I'm running the Moroso steel oil pan that claims it clears 4.125" stroke. And mine is just a 4.1". Going to have to investigate some more. Try and pin point exactly where it's hitting

Did some more PTV measuring today with the new pushrods. And wanted to double check the valves sit in the valve pockets ok since the pistons weren't ls7 specific valve pockets. Looks like roughly .225" of clearance on the intake and .230" on the exhaust.

Looks like I got plenty of clearance around the valve pockets.

Here's the intake clay

And the exhaust

Exactly!
OP is documenting an awesome build and providing valuable info regarding
PTV Clearance with a Huge LLSR, among other things.

And Jealous Haters talking about Toasters & Wrist Hair?? WT..?

Blk00SS

I Know you don't believe in Dynos, Engine or Chassis.
However I believe your Engine would make ~850 @ the Crank NA.
I am guessing each stage would add 150-250+ more,
Or + 300-500+ More.
1150~1400 Total.
Insane!
Looking forward to your Track results, hopefully some 1/4s as Well as 1/8s.

One of the 3-4 Best Threads on Tech currently IMO.

PS I don't throw #s around , I actually put some thought into them
LOL.

I'm sure I will get it on the dyno, I just know it won't be impressive. I went from right at 600rwhp with the old combo through the 6 speed. To 522 through the glide lmao. But actually trapped a hair higher. The direct port is staged for 250 and 200 right now lol. And only 1/8th miles passes for us down here.

Messed around with it some more today. Got one head on lol. Just taking my time trying to clean out all of the head bolt holes as well as I can. And cleaning up the deck surface as well as possible too. The extra studs that are screwed into the bottom of the head are really aggravating to get to with a torque wrench. Especially with no help. Really a two man job lol.

New cometic 4.200" bore with .040" thickness.

These Crower stainless rocker arms are very impressive. Superb fit and finish. Even supplied with Crower branded ARP stand bolts.

First set of heads I've ever had that didn't have the intake rocker bolt hole go through to the intake port. Nice surprise. Although the valve cover bolt hole does go through to it lol

And just a fancy shot of adjust the valve lash...

Those inner studs are a PITD. I use an extension to get on them with a torque wrench.

Lol that's what I used for pushrods, except Manleys. They ended up being a common BBC length so I got lucky. They fit in the mast heads pretty easy

Yeah too bad. This combo in a 6 speed would make some wicked numbers.

Yup I use a proto extension deal like that. And still had to grind it down to where it's only about a 1/4" thick so it would fit between the stud and the raised hump right below that stud inside the valley. Next time I have it to a machine shop I want to get that stud ground off.
