This appears to have been shot on a hoist with no load:

Wow thank you for the video. Are they supposed to have any movement fore/aft?

Movement is one thing if a few thousands, but when it is SO visible, something is out of spec! That looked like at least 1/8" of movement.

They all move a good amount, easily .050-.060" that's why they're called flex plates. It is also why converter spacing is so important and why that paper is on top of every converter when you buy it explaining proper spacing. Not only can you break a pump from installing the converter to tight to tranny but for every action there is a equal opposite reaction. So if the flex plate is pushed .050" towards the crank there's the possibility it could flex the other way that far if conditions were right resulting in a broke pump.

Thoughts on the skirt wear? They all range on both sides just like how they are pictured for all eight. Smooth to the touch with no scars that you can feel. All the ringlands look perfect.

My guess that is from the piston rocking at the bottom of the cylinders...

From what I've seen, I would agree. Just wondering if there's any reason not to reuse these as is... No physical damage you can feel.

Looks like they can be re-coated or dropped back in as-is.

You could use those in a newly machined block but IMO just tossing them back into the same block is asking for issues....as the PTW gets looser, the piston rocks more.....then the rings flutter making it harder to contain the explosion on the north side or scrape the oil from the south side.....oil past the rings on a NOS app is.....well.....quite bad

Thanks for the insight!

I have new ring packs for the pistons and will also have the machine shop provide a new (used) block and have it machined for these pistons. Not sure if its worth $200 to have them re-coated locally or not.
