Default Just Another 408

Ok guys I'm back. The "Millennium Falcon" busted a lifter back in July and ruined the LS1. Before i took the engine apart i bought a cam, the XER281HR its a 595/598 lift 281/283 duration(232/234 @.050) 112 duration. Since then i have recently bought a Gen IV 6.0 block (currently at machine shop) and a full eagle 408 stroker kit! I plan on running a holley 102 tb on a Holley sniper intake with a set of PRC 2.5 317 heads, LS7 lifters, chromoly pushrods, and TSP 1 7/8 headers. i was just wondering if the cam will be too small for this set up, id like to use it since i already have it! it will also be dyno tuned by Tick Performance and it is an M6 car with stock 10bolt 3.42 (plan on changing to a 12 bolt or 9 inch later)! Any input would be greatly appreciated! Also need injector options! and estimates on HP/TQ numbers Thanks LS Nation!!!

That cam will likely drive pretty nice and make good torque in a 408. I'm sure one of the cam experts can give a better commentary on cam selection. I'm a fan of under camping for a fun driving motor. I like the 229/229 .578/.578 114 LSA in my 383 LS1 but it is a definitely under cammed and I think the 232/234 XE-R cam will be similarly under cammed.
Something like a 238/244 might be more ideal for the 408 for hp. One cam guru told me for max hp my 383 LS1 should be looking at ~242/248 duration.

I plan on running a holley 102 tb on a Holley sniper intake with a set of PRC 2.5 317 heads, LS7 lifters, chromoly pushrods, and TSP 1 7/8 headers.
The sniper favors higher rpm so a bigger cam is probably a better match to the intake.

What compression will the PRC 317 S2.5's have? 9.5 to 1 or 10 to 1 or something else?
Unless the goal is forced induction later, more compression up to 11.8 to 12.0 to 1 is good if you have 93 octane and a good tune.

Depending on your goals the cam might be perfect. What do you want from the set up? Fun driving car with good manners on the street in traffic that can daily drive? Max power and driveability is less important or not important, or some where between the two?

I would read up 42# fuel injectors are probably a starting point.
WS6 Store is very good with helping spec injectors.
If Tick is going to be doing the tuning, I would also talk with them about cam and injector selection.

The car eventually won't be a daily driven car but will be driven a lot. I'm building it currently to shut up a friend of mine that has a cammed 04 Z06 a little bigger specs than the one I've got with ported heads, claims 480rwhp! As far as street ability it's not too bad. I don't live or drive in a populated area, mostly backwoods country side with some highway! It's already got a stage three clutch that everyone says is for the hulk lol! The other cam I was entertained by was the SNS stage 3 by Tick! My overall goal is the 480rwhp! As for heads I also considered the PRC 2.5 ls6 castings as they are the same price! I have considered Turbo later on but not certain! And I really am set on using the sniper intake. The low profile one so the runners aren't as long!
