Default HELP LS2 new bare block Piston Selection.

Need help/suggest to choose piston and ring for my ls2 stock bore, l92 heads, tvs1900 (21000-22000 rpm), Street (3000 miles/years) / Strip every weekend, 4.000 stroke Molnar crank, 6.125/0.927 Molnar rods. 91-94 octane.

-Material 4032/2618
-compression
-piston to wall clearance
-brands (Diamond, JE, Racetech)?
-Ring Material, Gap

so many combinations... I'm confused.

I've always used Wiseco and they've always worked very well. The rings they come with are nice and can hold up to plenty of abuse. They're pretty much all made of 2618 aluminum and come with recommendations for piston to wall clearance and ring end gap, which if you follow, should be adequate for what you're doing.

As far as compression, I would guess that 9:1 or 9.5:1 would be okay, but it really depends on how high the IAT gets. You can run more compression if you can cool the intake temps enough, but I like to be conservative on the PD blower combos.

Ok Thanks.

I just read the Wiseco catalog and I think -15cc DISH PISTONS K445XS with s718 pin upgrade will be my choice.

With a new bare Ls2 block should I go with 4.000 bore or 4.005 and re Hone/finish cylinder by hand?

It would be best to go to 4.005" and have your machine shop torque plate hone the block. The bores will be rounder and straighter than how they come from GM at 4.000" since the LS2 blocks are not honed with a torque plate from the factory. However, if you stay at 4.00", it would still work.

Agreed. Have the block honed with a torque plate. You’ll make more power, especially with a supercharger setup.
