Default Ring gap for boost...but running NA

I’m rebuilding a LC9 5.3 for a LS swap. I’d like to eventually put some boost to this engine, but I don’t have the budget for it right away. So I’ll be running it NA for a while. I’m thinking about setting the ring gaps for boost right off the bat here in the rebuild so I don’t have to tear the motor down again once I add the boost.

Are there any significant negative side effects to this?

You might have a tiny bit of blowby, but not much--depends on your gap. Most of the time, even on a blower motor, it is not in boost most of the time. Run a good catch can meant for boost. I made sure and set my oil rings at .015 gap.

Any boosted engine should just run an A.I.R. pump

I have a REV Extreme can and a GM Performance breather made for the LSA setups.

No, there are not. Gap it for the boost. You'll never see any issue running it NA. No special provisions needed at this point.
