Melling Oil Pump Specs

TECH Fanatic
It's not a bypass, It's a pressure relief valve. The purpose of the PRV is to prevent oil pressure spikes when the AFM solenoids turn on & off......Nothing redundant about it. The oil filter bypass serves a completely different function.

What about the claims here on LS1tech when people say they deleted the VVT, switched pans that effectively deletes the PRV and they dont and any problems related to oil pressure.

With a higher volume pump, pressure isnt the issue. Volume is. The pump has a built in bypass so it will still regulate the pressure but all that extra volume goes somewhere.
You would really notice it in the higher rpms where the pump and pan needs it the most and its either up in the head, in the trays, or being blaste out the sides of the counterweights.
If you dont have a need for the extra volume, does it make sense to keep it if you arent accommodating it in some other means?
