Rod movement ????

Rod movement ???? So i recently bought an ly6 with a couple thousand miles. Was told it was in running condition and ready to bolt in and go.
During my cleaning process and swapping over parts i decide to check the rods. (I've never messed with clearances or assembling a short block)
I notice the rods have some movement front to back. (timing cover to rear cover) but no movement side to side (side skirt to side skirt of the block)
Im just curious if this is normal or not, I'd hate to put it together and then pull it back out.
I know a rebuild will be mention but that was not my intentions as i was looking for a running motor and that's what i was informed of.
