IMHO if you're going to go through the trouble and expense of putting in one of these kits then got with the CHE one. Theirs seems to be a cut above the rest. Just stay away from the roller bearing trunnion kits.

 

The CHE has a "floating" bushing that is "slip fit" into the rocker arm housing and "slip fit" on the shaft/trunion.

The other kits require the bushing to be "pressed in" to the rocker arm housing and "slip fit" on the shaft/trunion.

I'm not a fan of the "press fit" due to varying clearances where the ID of the bushing may be a different size from assembly to assembly.

With the CHE kit I believe the clearances are controlled better between all three components.

I like my CHE kit and it's been running good so far and I'm at about the max. that this was designed for.

 

Well, I guess that settles things! CHE sounds like the winner here. Not only does it sound like it is just a better designed kit. But it is also easier to assemble. And you don’t have to worry about damaging (or having a machine shop damage) the second bushing you press on the rocker because it was a little crooked starting out, which can cause scuffing/scraping against the shaft.

The CHE Rocker trunnion kits can be purchased from Texas Speed, Scoggin Dickey, CHE Precision and sometimes Ebay.

 

We have the CHE as well...but are working on a new non-bushing/non-needle bearing design also.

I bought the Summit Kit, I measured each one and they were all identical, however i ordered one rocker as one of mine had a little tip wear, the rocker needed relieving as it made the bush tight.

 

i bought the ws6 store kit not knowing they still used needle bearings. but they claim the design is different and i believe they said if it fails, by design the needles stay encased. o well, hopefully they did there research.

 

The problem with the needle-type kits isn't the needles so much as the too-soft trunnion metallurgy. The trunnions themselves were wearing away at way too fast a rate.

I have personally tested our rpmspeed rockers (needle bearing style) for over 15k miles so far. 0 issues and quieter than stock. we tested them and had them sent out for metallurgy tests well before putting them to market to make sure they would not fail.

They are nothing new. Been offered before but they disappeared. And are utilized on quite a few other rocker arms out there so they have already been put through the paces with no issues.
Another company had the full rocker with trunion on here years ago and sold a few, but these will be offered in rocker form (ls1 style only) or cartridge form so you can install them in your ls1/ls3/ls7 rocker arms also.
Since there are so many irons in the fire as far as spare time goes, it will be just a little bit but not too far away.
We may also be offering some more options for the other bronze trunions at the same time as well.
