Default cathedral heads on ls7

A friend of mine blew up his ls6 with brand new set of trick flow heads on it. I know its not the best option but will these valves clear a set of flat tops for a ls7 head? He wants to build a 427 with a dart block then add good heads at a later date.

Probably. It depends what valves, what cam, what the valve drop is, if the pistons have valve reliefs, etc etc etc

The LS7 intake manifold will only bolt up to LS7 heads as well, as best as I understand. I've heard of some folks using CNC'd L92/LS3 heads on an LS7 and they still were down 20hp right off the bat. Just make sure you have the LS7 heads fixed correctly and go with them. The beauty of the LS7 is in its cylinder heads which can flow upwards of around 400 cfm (intakes) depending on which shop you go with.

He can probably sell them for not much of a loss. Basically new heads still fetch good money. I'd just sell and get the LS7 complete if possible. But if he's building a 427, then he can build it with whatever heads he wants.
