Need Advice on cylinder wall damage
Background: Spun a rod bearing in my 05 GTO while still tuning my magnacharger setup. Found a block for sale here on the forums- supposedly low mile (35K or so) with an upgraded cam, oil pump & timing chain. Mostly what I was looking for except when the block arrived I found this in one of the cylinders- looks bad enough to me that it can't be repaired or used without completely disassembling the engine. I'm no expert on LS engines but pretty good at wrenching and this damage looks bad to me- am I wrong? Seller claims the engine only sat for a few weeks with "oily rags" in the open cylinders. I don't want to go through the hassle of a return/refund through paypal if I can help it. Any advice on whether this can be salvaged without major work?
Thanks

It almost looks like it's just gunk buildup. But it also looks like some pitting as well? Take some carb cleaner to it to see what it really looks like in there.
LS2 6.0 aluminum block, supposedly low miles. Engine builder says he might be able to hone but most likely re-sleeve. I bought this block due to a spun rod bearing in my 05 GTO, by the original description I thought I could just clean it up & install my heads- I'm now having my original block & rotating assembly fixed with new bearings, rings, oil pump, timing set, etc.
