Default Cam Gain Opinions

I have a 2016 Chevrolet SS with ARH 1 7/8" long tubes, Roto-fab intake, and tune. I currently have a Rick Crawford ported intake manifold waiting to go on the car, and was just curious how much more power would the car make with this extremely mild cam thrown into the mix?

Would the idle be noticeable with a cam like that? Basically, I want to be able to lie and say my car is full bolt ons only.

With -15 degrees overlap, it should idle pretty smooth. A good tune would assure it. Call Cam Motion. They are pretty straight up with advice, and will tell you what you need to know.

Thanks for the info and advice. I sent them an e-mail during the week, I'll probably hear back from them this week. I'm not a cam expert by any means, but the specs appear to be quite tame on this one.

And the best part is, if for some reason they think the cam MIGHT still lope a little (unlikely...), they can grind one with a little more LSA. In fact that would work if you should decide to use the next cam up from this one. Cam Motion WILL work with you! Comp they ain't... lol

The Cam Motion mild performance Stage 1 camshaft is likely only going to gain about 10 peak horsepower and extend the RPM range maybe 300-500 RPM. The Stage 3 mild performance camshaft is still fairly stealthy and will pick up 20 to 25 HP in the high lift version. But, while still fairly stealthy, a trained ear is going to pick up on that one. Obviously, our Titan series is where the power is, but they are not stealthy.

Let me know if I can help further,
Steven

If you have a 2016 Camaro SS, you do not have an LS3. Unless you are asking for a similar cam to be ground on an LT1 core...

And if that Rick Crawford intake is for an LS3, it won't fit either.

one other idea is bumping up the idle a bit than the norm to mask the choppinerss depending on the cam LSA of course.

Original poster has a 2016 SS Sedan. This has LS3 drivetrain.

If you are not set on the cam mentioned above and you are looking for a tame cam that will perform great, our 1C has been called our "sleeper" cam. It will maintain an idle very similar to stock and have gains expected of a cam swap!

OK, when he said Chevrolet SS we thought he meant Chevrolet Camaro SS. Easy mistake to make..
