Tell us about the heads.
Are they untouched take offs? Have they EVER been worked or at a machine shop? Take a straight edge and lay it over the top of the valve tips. How do they look? Do that on each head and report back.
As these engines get older, more and more people are putting their hands on them freshening them up, valve jobs, porting etc...It's always best to measure each and every valve. Tedious, yes, worth it? IMO Absolutley
unless it was a bone stock untouched engine freshening.
I had a set of heads that were CNC ported in 2009 by somebody, purchased from a shop along with a built LS2 stroker short block. I found that the Intake valves were about .030" "Taller" than the exhaust on every valve.
I purchased 2 sets of Push Rods to meet my desired preload on LS7 lifters. You'll likely have to do the same unless some of them are way out of spec... Good luck.
