L92 for project Q's

I am doing an E46 conversion to an LS series motor and have been reading quite a bit on the L92. After reading through most of the threads I am still not 100 percent sure what exactly to get.
Is there an L92 recipe card by chance? I've seen those before for LS1's. For X power buy these parts.
I am looking for about 500-525 crank HP. This is a track only car so I'm not concerned about idle quality too much, it will spend nearly all of its time above 2500rpm.
Is there any difference if I buy an L92 or L94 and is there any differences in the motor's themselves? Are these all 58x wheels?
I know I need the new timing cover, new single bolt cam, and new intake, then a set of heads to hit that number.
Going price seems to be around $2,500 for an L92 from 07-10, any reason to buy a specific year, are newer models L94's instead of L92's and is there any reason to buy later?
Thanks

L92 and l94 both have vvt while l94 has active fuel management also.
If you are going that route, delete the vvt and afm if getting l94.
Use a 3 bolt cam and single row timing set
Melling 10295 pump
Close off afm towers either with lingenfelter rivet tool or drill and tap
Id replace the double d pistons with flat tops
Use the TSP stage 3 cam
And let it rip
I recommend the stage 3 over a larger cam because youll still need some lower mid range around 2500-3500 or so like you said and going much larger will hurt that.
Thats it!
Running a car ls3 will be ok but a FAST102 will gain you the extra power you want on a track setup.

I originally thought of using a Speartech harness but I do need an intake still. Saw these but found very little feedback.

Dont use the fitech and the speartech is pretty high i believe.
Id go with a factory computer and a current performance, painless performance, psi or similar harness and be done.
Not only do the flat tops help cr but youll also have a better flame front and travel and cleaner burn. Along with having brand new pistons and rings of course which wont hurt. our setups are very budget friendly.
