Vibratory stress relief I use a Stress Relief Engineering Formula 62 vibratory stress relief machine. This machine will greatly reduce the residual stress put in the casting during machining or welding. If the stress is left in the block there is a very good chance of the casting warping in use resulting in out of round bores and out of alignment main bearing bores.
These are not inexpensive machines. Vibratory stress relief is a necessary part of the process otherwise I wouldn't have purchased the machine.
