Default LY6 cam selection for 07 1500 SCSB

I have an 07 Silverado with a 4.8 auto 2WD. I have an LY6 out of a 2011 Chevy 2500. I'm wanting to put the LY6 into my 07 truck, but will be freshening up the LY6 first. I am trying to figure out what cam to go with,(possibly an LS7 cam) other needed items, like pushrods an springs. It will be my DD, and i would like it to be fairly smooth, very minor lope is ok like a newer factory vette. I have searched through these forums with out much luck. Has anyone else done a swap like this? Thanks in advance for the help.

No problem. We make one milder, but the Sum-8712 Stage 1 drop-in truck cam or it’s .550 lift Sum-8719 variant (intended for use with LS6 springs) can give you what you are looking for. Idle speed can be set to make it smooth, or you can hear a hint of cam in it by lowering idle. The cams make killer power and torque and aren’t hard on the valvetrain.

Could I use the same pushrods? I've got stiffer valve springs if needed .I'd like to also go a bit higher in RPM's when I get it tuned . Will I be ok with the stock converter? Also, I plan on doing a trunion upgrade. Thanks for the help

Our high lift hot cam is a killer grind with springs and uses stock pushrods also. no need for a stall and a very aggressive idle! Will give you gains everywhere plus a great top end. you will need to delete your vvt. we have that kit also!
Adds .600 lift to take advantage of those rectangular port heads too!!

$500 this month for cam and springs.

Let me know of youre interested!!

Yes, you can use the same pushrods. If you're open to springs, the SUM-8719 Stage 1 .550 lift version is designed for use with LS6 springs p/n NAL-12499224. You can re-use your retainers, but a set of SME-143009 locks should be used. The cam works fine with the stock converter and the trunnion upgrade is a good idea. We have a nice bushing style kit p/n SME-K-141560 and the SME-906011 installation tool. You will need the FEL-VS50504R valve cover gaskets and FEL-TCS45993 kit for the water pump gaskets and also includes o-rings for the oil pump

The VVT delete kit p/n is cmb-09-0027 that includes the front cover, gaskets, balancer bolt, 3 bolt 4-pole gear, and cam bolts. You could get the LS2 timing chain p/n sme-143012. Lastly, the Ly2 in your 2007 didn't have VVT, so you won't have to worry about disabling it in the ecm, but the tune will pick up power even by itself as you noted.
