Complete 6.2 L92 core for $1500 worth it ?
I have located a low mileage(45k) 6.2 out of a 2010 silverado with accessories , harness and ecu at wreckers for $1500. They said the shop that inspected it said one of the pistons " detonated" and the engine is locked up . The block is good externally don't what the inside looks like , do you guys think it is worth the gamble ?

Locked up?
Scrap aluminum is worth ~.40 a pound
The 105 block is probably worth ~$40
Each head probably $9
Sounds like the only value is in ECU, harness, used accessories, coil packs, coil harness, valve covers, front cover, rear cover, valley cover, intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors.
Guessing that's all worth a max of $500 if you have a buyer for all the parts. A little more if you need all the parts.
No way, that's worth risking $1,500 on if the engine could be salvaged, you'd be into it for probably $3,000 to $4, 500 by the time it was running. You can buy a running used LS3/L99 for $4,500
If you feel like parting it out $200 or less and your going to have a lot of time wrapped up in it to maybe make $250

The heads MIGHT be good. Depends on why it locked up. Either way, LEAVE IT.

Thank you guys for the suggestions , I didn't go for it . But I got a killer deal on a complete aluminum 5.3 with 80k miles on it for $600 . Has the dod lifter issue but I'll be deleting that anyways.

That's what I'M talking about! What's it out of? It's either an LC9, LH6, LH8, or LH9 Gen IV

It came out of a Silverado don't know what year , my guess its a LC9 , no VVT and I think it has flex fuel injectors .Sorry for the crappy picture.
I'll take more pictures and report back once I start tearing it down , just picked it up last night . Still sitting in the back of the mini van lol .
The casting number on the block is 12601900

That's a good engine. Better for not having VVT. Flex is good! Plenty of flow capacity. You have chosen..... WISELY....
