Default 441 dart block or 402 ls2 block?

Last week i blew up my 418 ls3 and nothing on the bottom end is salvageable. I am going to order some parts and try to get this thing back together. I cant decide which way to go . I will probably end up boosting it with a gtx4202 turbo i have.

I plan to reuse my trick flow 255 heads.

I will either build a 402 with a gm performance ls2 block, 4 inch crank and 4 inch pistons. or use a dart shp next 441 with 4.125 stroke and 4.125 bore.

Is the extra strength of the cast iron block worth the added weight?

Does the extra bore equal better airflow bc of less valve shrouding?

Have I already reached the limit of my heads and the extra displacement is pointless?

Let me know your opinions.

Thanks

I wouldn't do more than 4.125" bore even on the SHP block. They do have longer sleeves so you can run the 4.125" stroke... but again, I'd err on the side of more ringland material and run a 4" stroke.

SHP is good for 1500HP.

The 441 will be a far better motor but a single GTS42 turbo will strangle it. If you must run that 1 turbo go smaller and the LS2 will be fine. If you can find another, a 441 will run 2 of them and be spastic

The Dart SHP block over the LS2 for your build.

1,500 hp will probably be a starting point for hp with turbo.

With turbo / turbos and the lust for hp the iron GM LSX proven for 2,000 + hp it too might be worth a look.

After a depressing weekend trying to figure out what went wrong with my last motor I have gone 100 different directions on my new build.

The problem i have is that a stock style motor will make all the power that turbo can make anyway but the dart direction allows for more later.

But then i keep thinking i want to go down the all motor road again.

Dart block 4.125 bore 4.1 stroke. reuse my ls3 trick flow heads.

The Dart is a better block/platform but also gives you multiple options on whatever you decide to do. Whatever, you decide the block is not going to be the sticking point with the Dart.
