I saw a closeup pic of Ford's rockers. They look like fully contained needle bearings, which GM's are NOT. Ford has been listening and learning....

That's iron. If you look at the cylinders, there's no sleeves as you would have with an aluminum block.

I feel like they could probably sneak out of there pretty easily if one or two (that take most of the load) failed and kick out of there bringing all their buddies with them. Granted, stock stuff should'nt really be a problem though.

How many people have actually had them fail? And how many people bit the hype and wasted money on upgrades?

I've beat the crap out of numerous sets of 100k+, often 200k+ mile rockers at well over 7k RPM without one issue.

Agreed, In real life, over the last 22 years, I've known one person that had issues with the needle bearings in the LS rockers. That includes a half dozen plus folks with 250,000 miles to 300,000 miles on their LS engines too.

Saw a lot of issues on the Internet mentioned for whatever that's worth.

Ford and quality low maintenance engine design usually go together about as well as ice cream coated anchovies & wasabi oysters do with chocolate chip pecan pancakes for breakfast. I've met many Ford owners burned by the mod motor spark plug fiasco, several burned by the mod motor timing chain issues and several burned by the Ford v6 front & rear timing chain issues. Maybe this new pushrod 7.3 V8 will mark a turning point and a clean slate for Ford.

The two people I know that had the issue both had LS7's with big cams. Stock stuff works just fine imo. I was merely poking fun at Ford because Ford lol. That said, I'd much rather have their 7.3L than GM's 6.6L, if its not a turd like the V10 that makes 420ft/lb

That new Ford LS motor looks pretty simple with no direct injection. That motor is going to be the new LS swap motor in the future being so simple and pretty compact for a 7.3. I hate to say it but that Ford motor is going to be more attractive to fleets than the GM motor.

One of mine failed a couple years ago. I just swapped in another stock one and it was fine. I upgraded to Comp rockers in the new engine.
