Well figured I’d update. Had some things happen with the job so that made the process take a slower approach now. Ended up getting a lvl V rpm 4l60e in turn for the 6 speed I had. Hoping that it’ll last behind the setup and with rpm that I’ll be turning. Going to run the Mast heads, waiting for them to get here. Any input on how well this new trans will hold with 7k+ shifts? Also any input on the hi ram vs LOD intake?

I got almost 7k tied up in a stg 4 jakes 4l80e and FTI converter for back when i was going boosted. Now that im not turbo build anymore, i wish i had put a 6spd in it with the LS7 NA set up. Tired of losing money every time i change my mind. Gunna keep the power robbing 4l80e auto for now, lol.
P.s. Get ready for the huge wait on the MAST heads. Sofar, the only real downfall other than cost. Hopn they worth it. Lots of options out there.

Is it bcuz of the internals n lack of strength that dont hold up to high rpms? I thought it was because of all the heavy rotating mass that just bogs down hp and inertia. Just curious

4l80 internals are heavy...but same gearing as the great t400 just a spare gear 3 spd vs 4 spd. Street vs race ready. All need internal work with higher rpm. Sprags, clutches, imput shaft, etc.... 4l60 is the one pasted on most often. Street duty should hold, launched at 5k regularly and the problems will occur. A t400 or t350 would make a great Street and track.
Still take the 4l80 with lighter aluminum drum, sprags and input shaft. That's all that's really needed for the 80...with normal rebuild stuff...**** kit, extra clutches, etc..

The hell with it ate power, 400 vs 350 vs 4l80 vs manual, 4l60, 200r. Gear accordingly! if u launch on the stall ....and done what's needed= consistent #.

Ya I’ve heard and seen multiple answers on this. I’ve only ever ran their lvl 4 trans and never had an issue at 7000-7200. But who knows.

Ya not looking forward to this wait but I’m sure it’ll be worth it when they get here and get put on. Lol. I will go back to a 6 speed at some point. Really looking to see the difference in the ET between the two. I know I can drive the car with the 6 speed. But I think it’d be nice to see the difference between the two with my setup.

Hard to beat consistent numbers if matched with the combination = stall.

Ya it really is. I know for a fact I wouldn’t be faster with the 6 speed but I know which one I’d have more fun with trying to go fast dum♂️

Hmmmm...hope you've got good P to V clearances with a miss shift and manual. If you like it I luv it. Never have cared about shifting gears. The word ° automatic speaks Volumes

Not really when your thinking of adding roller cam bearings, cnc drilling thru the upper mains like the 5.3...or drain backs directly to the pan, not from the top down. idk, they say u live once. Use it if u know something. Cost, yet Zach is cool and anything can be worked out.
