This might be interesting.... Top ten NA fast list heads (edit-- this is stock form / non funny car. basically what most of this site is):
1) 8.12 @ 170.08..... 427in...... C5R
2) 8.14 @ 166.xx.......446in-- -- Edelbrock Canted LSR
3) 8.29 @ 164.49-- ...440in...-- Edelbrock Canted Valve
4) 8.535@162.61-- ...418in....-- MOZEZ
5) 8.60 @ 158.41-- ...468in-.....-MOZEZ
6) 8.61 @ 157-- ........427in-- --.C5R
7) 8.74 @ 155-- ........427in...-- C5R
8) 8.74 @ 154.xx-- ....427in...-- LS7 (Ported by MTI)

Here is the fastest rectangle port on the list
19) 9.432 @ 140.69 -- 454in. --- L92
In the top 20, there are 16 LS7 style heads, 3 cathedral, and 1 rectangle. Interesting to me that the C5R predates the LS7 head, has smaller ports, and has three faster cars than the fastest LS7 head.

Yeah I was trying to stick to NA and at least still the stock chassis form factor. No funny cars etc. For the type of builds most of us do.

And a 440 LSX, presumeably a LS7/C5R type head, so still makes the point I guess
