Spinmonster cam specs 2009
Comp probably has the largest variety of lobes to suite pretty much any application. That Xtreme Marine series is a great lobe. I think it predates the LS engines though as I believe it was geared towards big blocks with heavy valves in marine applications where they sit at WOT and 5000RPM for long periods of time. I am using a high lift version of the Xtreme Marine that Comp calls the HUC lobes. Very little valvetrain noise, even with 1.8 rockers and .670" of lift.

Your experience with idle tuning differs from mine. I tend to find I have to lean the idle out for stability. When I fight unstable (surging) idle, it is typically rich. Or at stoich, which on a big cam is actually rich.
I do agree that higher spark timing at idle is nicer, but sometimes I need to be very aggressive on adaptive spark, which requires lower idle timing. I have found 18 degrees works quite well under most conditions.

I think it depends on the fuel you run. In northern states (colder climate) fuel is 10% ethanol and a car's commanded stoic is 14.7 when E10 really is optimum at 14.1

I don't think there is a ton of arrogance. Many guys worked from the presumption that I was the arrogant azz and it was disproved with my driving 300 miles to a stranger's house in Maryland and fly-cut a guy's pistons and reassembled his engine for free. That single act of kindness showed many my true colors. I followed that up with flights to Texas, Kentucky, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee all for free and made some good friends (they paid travel costs). I really wasn't in it for the money. I shared cam specs for a very livable cam and got flamed for years. I posted here to stop outright misinformation. I posted to let there be empirical data for those searching for 'SpinMonster Cam'.
In my experience, guys see the data and accept the truth. Before there was rumor. In the end it's a daily driver cam and not max effort. Just don't say it dies at 6000rpms when it doesnt.
