How do I tell what 5.3 this is

Said it came from 08 Tahoe. It is aluminum and has 243 heads.

The casting number will tell you.... sound like a L33 to me honestly.

If it's an 08 it could very well be an LC9. That year would be a Gen IV. L33's were Gen III.

It's a Gen IV 5.3 aluminum block engine. The LH6, LH8, LH9, and LC9 all use the same block.
