Default Engine swap

I have a 2007 Silverado with 5300 Vortec lmg engine I put a 2006 Suburban lm7 engine I believe in it the cam sensors and crank sensors are different the cam sensors in a different location vehicle has no spark on wondering if I can just change the PCM from the donor car or do I have to pull the engine back out and replace it with the correct one

They use completely different PCM's, which will make it very difficult to adapt the earlier LM7 to the later truck. You should always try to match components for compatibility.

I know better to check for compatibility however my is my friend's truck he supplied the engine I'm doing it at my shop after work trying to help him out I work the GM dealer I have access to gmglobalconnect do you think it's possible to reprogram his PCM or should I just get a new PCM and try to reprogram that or just pull this engine out and tell him to give me a different one he said it came out in 06 Suburban which I imagine is the lm7 I really don't know his engine had the active fuel management but the one I put in did not and has knock sensors under the intake manifold instead on the side of the engine block. So there are a lot of things different about this engine that I was worried about but I figured I would at least run and I would worry about the check engine light later. I just saw the difference between the crankshaft reluctor wheel

The PCM's are a completely different format. They don't interchange in the least. AFM and VVT came out on the Gen IV engines. No Gen II's have either one.
Gen IV electronics are a whole different animal than the earlier stuff. MUCH more powerful computer.
The truck PCM will not work with the Gen III engine, nor will a Gen III PCM work with the 2007 truck.

I don't just tell people what to do. I give the reasons why so they know. Find another LMG (2007-09) engine and drop it in there. Believe me, it will save you a TON of work even with pulling this one and dropping in the new one. They are real common, so should not be hard to find another one. Don't get a 2010 or later one, they have VVT which is another can of worms.

Look for an "o" in the 8th digit of the VIN. That would be an LMG.
Pickups, Tahoes, Yukons, Suburbans, and Avalanches all had them. 2WD and 4WD.

Just wondering would a 6.2 work in that truck out of an 2008 escalade? I have access to a wrecked one with a good engine.

Actually it should work. Get the PCM with it as it will have VVT but not AFM/DOD. It should all plug in.
