Mike, I love following your thread and posts. Your attention to detail and willingness to jump in, reminds me of myself. Do/did you have a brother named Hans, by chance? I bet you get that all the time…

Not (immediately) related to any Hans. Or Franz, for that matter. :-)

Wrapping the headers. I decided to use CV joint boot clamps, because even with the "proper" tool from Amazon to tighten the metal zip ties, they don't get tight enough.

Got the headers wrapped, new heat shields made for the motor mounts, new motor mounts to replace the melted ones, clutch swapped out, new pilot bushing, and other miscellaneous stuff.
The engine is going back in. It's mechanically bolted up, but still needs water, oil, gas, and electron plumbing.

Currently in Rome, went to St. Peter’s Basilica today. I built an engine when I was 24. Michelangelo did *this*.

We were assigned to write a story when I was in first grade … this is what I wrote. We are cleaning out my Dad’s house, since he is now in memory care.

Launching!
Mike, did you ever run across another LS-powered MX-5, this one in the Bothell area? I did not go thru the whole thread here if mentioned.
It is a NA and powered by a LS1, license fittingly "LS1MX5".

I have heard rumors of a red one at (for instance) the Shoreline Cars and Coffee. The one I heard about was built from scratch, with no swap kit. Never seen it, though.
