People are just tired of getting harassed by others on forums. Alot of these forums are very "Clicky" too. Its just a fact. I ve seen it directly on several different forums already. It scares some people off. It seems like hiding behind an avatar brings out the worst in people. Some people say some down right mean n nasty shyt that i know for sure they wouldnt act like that in person face to face. Im not big on social media,...except these forums. But, cyber bullying is real. Lol. My engine builder gave up on forums a LONG time ago bcuz of said trend...its ashame to with the amount of stuff n builds he has ACTUALLY done! He to has a cookbook, n its a few composition notebooks. He closed up shop over politics n customers on the internet where the real experts are. Now he s got a killer job as machinist on naval base n picks n chooses who to build motors for and when.

Very true RK. Sometimes you would swear the person behind the avatar was not the same guy you met in person.

Cyber bullying only occurs to those to weak mentally to treat said bullying as what it is........ In life ill say it as i see it, if your full of **** i will tell you to your face. The same as on a forum
What is harsh is a forum can ruin a proffesional for any mistakes made. Thats the hard one , whether to call them out or not. Ive had occasions where mayb i should have, i have called out others....

In some ways I agree. Anyone throws crap at me WILL get it slung back with a stronger arm.
HOWEVER, some very knowledgeable people might be turned off by it and leave, making the rest of us the poorer for it.
A few manners go a long way.

There used to be things called respect and courtesy and manners, but it doesn't seem to exist on forums any longer, and forget FB. Just because someone is right or THINKS they're right and they're on the internet, it doesn't give you the license to be a schmuck and personally attack others. Plenty of people are all bark online and no bite in person and others have no bark online and are all bite in person.

Ive browsed this forum for last 7-8 yrs and overall i only seen respect shown to other people. Yes some people **** me off when there smokin , but theres no point saying anything and most here just take it as a minor irratation...
The people who do have actual experience are smart enough to take any harsh words in their stride , if they cant handle it ill still say the same thing , "toughen the **** up"

So what happens when a proffessional, who owns n operates a legit business goes out of thier way to lets call it "participate" in a forum. Over time, he ends up defending himself over n over again. And god forbid as he walks amongst the perfect humans in this world, he does make a legit honest mistake. Typically they are crucified n reputation is left in question. Thier business can and will suffer. Perfect example on here is Tony Mamo. I dont know him and never spent a buck with him(yet). Typically it appears dude is on the up n up n his customers are genuinely happy af with him. Yet a few go out of thier way to slay him with this, that, shooda, wooda, coulda...He may care, he may not. If he jumps in and defends himself, than he s caught in the internet crossfire of which only a few can actually read between the lines. If he ignores all the drama n keeps on keeping on, that mite not look to great niether when an uprising needs squashing. Or literally facts need set straight. Once again, left with only a few who can read between the lines so to speak.
Ask yourselves this, most agree who the top 1% are in this game. Well, if this is "Ls sales", than why arent they here soaking up all this money for grabs. Especially from the wallets of the weak and nieve? They are in this for the money correct? Or does anyone in top 1% do this for fun?!?!

I was reading some fallout with mamo heads before i purchased my heads and intake from him. Like all things internet i took the negatives and the positive , sifted thru the hearsay, and came out making a decision on facts.
Yes some may fall foul but most times the **** comes out in the wash . Other times the so called proffesional absolutely needs a shelacking and shouldnt be in the business.
99.9% of people know an honest mistake, as said earlier **** comes out in the wash and the 1% survive and prosper

Just thought about this. You can have less than $1000 US into 1000 hp pistons and rods. Stock crank's are known to handle 1000 hp all day long. You don't NEED cylinder heads, or expensive pushrods, springs, special valve covers, etc. A good turbo is <$1000 US. People are welcome to spend as much as they want on a part, but for a given power level it doesn't automatically mean it'll last longer.

Looks like this one has run its course and has nowhere left to go but further off the rails.

The off-topic discussion should be kept in the Lounge, regional areas and such.

On a side note, to address some of the concerns mentioned above, I have literally been an active member of this site since day ONE. We've seen a lot of ups and downs with various builders/shops, eras of parts and trends, and various personalities come, gone, and come again. Some of these complaints that I read in 2020 were the same in 2001 when we opened the doors - forum personalities range far and wide, some folks will rise to the top with great attitudes and solid tech info while others will be a blight on the format, and still others will abstain entirely.

Human behavior cannot be indefinitely controlled to an agreeable state by any forum or media (or anything else for that matter), but we each have full control over our own behavior. On an individual level, it takes two to argue so you can either be the change you want to see in others or you can be part of what you perceive as the problem. On a business level, if you don't like what folks are saying you can either choose to defend your reputation by engaging or you can change the conversation for the better. No matter what choices you make in these regards, some folks will always see it as wrong, bad, and/or tell you how you could have done it better.

No site, nor the internet itself, will ever contain absolute harmony unless it is limited to just one member.
