That was ***** footing it off the line and not actually geting into it hard until I hit 2nd. That was on stock 3.42 gears also. I'm super pleased with my cam. It's on lsl xer lobes and it is big and it drives almost like stock in my 6 speed. 6th gear 1500 rpms with no buck or jerk what so ever. The smooth part is in how good your tuner is and how much time he takes to set the ve tables and fuel tables. But that's my 2 sense.
what was your 60 ft?

a manual gto on stock suspension is hard to 60 foot well. with good tires he might get 1.7-1.9.

i haven't read of too many GTO's getting lower than a 1.6 that are not automatics. usually the GTO stick cars that are faster run bias ply all around, significant weight redux, and have excellent drivers.

1.67 1.62 on the 2 passes I made. If you get a good clutch on 15s with some mickey et street you can pull 1.5s all day

Budget doesn't get you 11s when you start with a standard LS1

Just curious... how much does a GTO weighs on the average?

So, you have the heads you're going to use sitting on a bench. If you care about going fast, why not have a valve job done, CNC port them, and have them milled to your spec? TxSpeed will do all of that in addition to setting up your valve springs (whether you supply them or buy them from TxSpeed) for $800. Send all of the head info along with all the other info on your GTO to a noted cam guru. I use Pat G when in unfamiliar territory. He takes all of the above into account to get you the best fit on your cam selection. Hell, you may be ahead to contact someone like him before doing the head work. Generally speaking though, higher comp ratio is better. Good cam guys cam make a good fit cam wise as long as they know the rest of the puzzle.

If I couldn't afford to do the head work now, I'd delay the project until I could.

I don't understand why someone would go out of there way to spend $300 on stock heads, minimum of $800 for cnc work, at least $200 for springs, and then probably $80 shipping each way. That is totaling almost $1500 (more if you go to AI or TEA) for some ported heads when for a few bucks more you can get some nicer aftermarket castings.

You want a torquey cam to get that heavy goat moving. You got 400 lbs on a stock f body so I would suggest something like a high lift 224/224 on a 112. Torquey, will idle just fine but still have enough lope to not mistake it for stock. The streetsweeper TQ mentioned above would be another good choice, that would probably be the one I'd run.

On a 5.7 with stock 799 heads and a lunati 222/228 113+4 .567 .567 cam and full exhuast I made ~390 hp and 370tq. Tuned by NICD.

In my case, I had the heads already and I'm close enough to TxSpeed that I delivered and picked them up. Aftermarket heads would have cost way more than what I spent. With the smallish cam I used, I don't think the benefit seen with high dollar heads would have been worth the $'s. I'd rather be blown than spend $3K on heads.
