I bought a 2007 Escalade engine from local salvage yard with purported 90k on odometer but not validated. I have a 2007 Envoy needing a transplant and figured this would be a good donor. After engine was delivered it was externally clean but I wanted to take a look inside with borescope. Inspection detected water standing in # 7 with light corr. I needed a closer look and tore it down; head gasket and mating surfaces look good... # 7 Cyl corr
not sure how water got there? I hit cyl with Scotch-Brite and took a couple pictures for show and tell. I can feel the damage with fingernail and bore measures 4.0655. All bores measured between 4.065 to 4.0665 and # 4 and #5 cylinders were scuffed with slight drag on fingernail. Not sure what to do since I have it tore down? Take it to M/S for hone up to 4.070 with new pistons, bearings, etc, or flex hone in my shop, new rings, seals and gaskets? This Envoy is a DD. I appreciate your input.
