Default LH9 engine?

This engine showed up yesterday and I was told that it needs a new connecting rod. I'm trying to get together an iron LS1 from the spare parts I have lying around and my original plan was to mill my 241's but since this engine has 799's I'm thinking these will be a better performance head than the 241's. I'm pretty sure this is an LH9 due to the fact that it has VVT.

Can't beat free and hopefully the extent of the damage will not be too bad.

If this engine has AFM/DOD, and it looks like it does, it is NOT an LH9.
It could be an LC9 or LH6, both of which do have it, plus be aluminum block.

Leaning more towards the LC9 or LH6 as all of them use the same block casting #s.

Just pulled the heads and this engine has flat top pistons so it must be an 07-09 LC9. We're now going to scrap the iron LS1 build and focus our attention on this block now. This will be going into an 01 Chevy extended cab pickup truck and looking for camshaft recommendations. Wanting to make as much power and torque as we can on a stock engine and utilize the LS6 beehive springs. We'll also be upgrading to a 3,000 stall on the 4L60 with 3.73 gears. Still want to be able to haul the hay if need be.

I'll determine the P-V with the current cam to see where I'm at. From my research it looks like the stock cam is 196/201 .481/.481 116+2 LSA but I'm thinking a 222/232 .595/.587 108+3.would be a good choice.
