Default Understanding my engine, help.

Good Morning all. So it seems I am finding a bit of conflicting information on the interwebs but it seems as if the aluminum 5.3L I pulled from my parents wrecked 05 GMC Envoy Denali (VIN M) is an LH6. However everything I can find says that should be an AFM engine. That vehicle for 100% fact did not have AFM. I did find a few blurbs (nothing Id take as a statement of fact) that they "had" AFM in 05 but it wasn't wired up. Am I still going to need an AFM delete kit for this engine?

It wasn't activated on the SWB models. All LH6's had the capability. So you still might need the DOD delete kit.

So I suppose at this point the only way to be sure if to pop the valve covers off and check to see if it has the 4 oddball rockers?

Rockers are all the same. 2 different lifters on AFM/DOD engines.

If it has a valve body for a Valley cover or oil towers in the valley that are drilled, you probably need some kind of delete.

I havent removed the valley cover yet but I seem to remember the top side of it looking the same as the one I pulled off my LM7.

You would know by looking at the top of the Valley cover, it’s not smooth but looks like a transmission valve body.
