Why dont you start a youtube channel and video your testing? It would be unbiased and you might even get paid for it.....i'd subscribe.

Zero desire to waste my time doing that, I'm too busy as it is.

Mehh good try, next

Cool pissing contest, guys... nobody cares.

Let's get back to helping the OP find a better cam.

Cam is fine. Port and mill the heads instead

^^^^^^This. At the very least, a good bowl blend and multiangle competition valve job will kick things up a few notches.

Swap to cathedral heads and sell the ls3s. Get a custom cam ground for your setup and needs. Definitely the wrong cam for the heads you have now, would work better with cathedrals but the lift is definitely not optimal for even stock 243s/799s/317s

Yup. Port your heads to improve flow and mill them to up your compression. Raise your compression with a thin head gasket as well.

Wouldnt a 1.9 rocker on the intake and a 1.85 on the exhaust put him right there?

Hhhmmm. Where does one get these ratio rockers? Are they bolt in, or are modifications required?

Yella Terra's 1.85 are nice, but not in the budget. I could call COMP and see if they can do a custom grind.

That was an interesting test. We sent our stage 2 in and it did well, but we also sent in out Sum-8720 218 cam to see how it would do. It was really the better choice for this particular combination. Comes on way earlier than others and held on well at peak...as well as our own stage two in this case. We have faith in both cams and trust Richard’s integrity.

Get Cam Motion to build you what you want. Cam Motion - Cam Lobe Master Catalog List They built my lowly 226/234 cam with .620 lift on both sides. Could have gone .638 on the intake with more on the exhaust. Their 228 duration at .050 lobe is available up to .646 lift. 230 degree lobe up to .655 lift. They're easy on the valve train and quiet to boot. As others have mentioned, all that cam needs is a little more lift. Then there's the higher ratio rocker arms thing too.

I know this is a month old but what I got from that whole video (and I think Richard is providing a hell of a service to the LS community and should get a damn medal) I see my best choices for my 4.8/5.3 turbo build as either the SS2 or the Summit 8720, mainly because I don't want to put an expensive cam/valvetrain in a junkyard motor that may or may not blow up the first time it's run.

I cannot watch the Holdener videos-
-sorry, I meant I CANNOT WATCH THE HOLDENER VIDEOS!!!!!!1

Too much ALL CAPS and EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!. Too much shouting-at-a-camera-interrupted-at-random-with-1/2-second-long-screenshots. I keep worrying he's going to have a meth ovedose and die on camera.
