Default L96 questions

I am wondering if anyone can tell me why the L96 in regular gas produces 30 more horsepower then same L96 in E85?

E-85 is booboo in N/A application, from what my owners manual said on one of my old silverados.....it said e85 would give you less miles, and less power. ....only advantage was the price here in ca. It was about $1 cheaper than the standard 87 octane. .....I think e85 only shines when boost is applied!!! I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's something along those lines

From my understanding, it burns cooler... so if you aren't increasing compression or timing to capitalize on that, then all it does is burn cooler.

I believe so....it's watered down...that's why it burns cooler and is only really effective if boost comes into party! !!!

It's not watered down, e85 just has less BTU's than regular gasoline but a much higher octane, you burn more of it versus gasoline, so your fuel consumption will go up but if your engine is tuned for it, your power can go way up too. The octane rating of e85 is around 108, so higher compression, more timing, or obviously more boost, is where it really shines. Although a lot of e-85 out of a pump is nowhere near 85%, usually much lower.

Iike to use it in my NA vehicles. It seems to leave a lot less carbon residue in the ports and combustion chambers than gas, plus it is a lot cheaper than 93 octane for use in higher compression engines.

I converted my 2018 Sierra 6.2 E85. Iput the sensor in so i can run either E85 or gasoline. The thing is a beast on E85. It has a lot higher octane than 93 so you can up the timing. I get about 2 mpg less with E85 than 93 but it is a $1 cheaper than 93. On the L83 5.3 E85 has 25 more hp and 33 more FT LBS of torque than on gasoline.
