Default Identify this rod

Helping a buddy who scored a free LS3. It was removed because of a busted valve spring.....no damage, just a busted beehive spring.

Pistons are Probe .005” oversize.
No name rod. My guess is Chinese.
ARP 8470 bolts.
Anyone familiar with these?

Crank is also forged. It’s an Eagle 4340.

Bearings look ok, not great.

No-name single bolt cam, it was a bugger to get out. #4 journal wouldn’t go through the front 3 bearings w/o tapping it through from the back.

Dipshit who assembled it used locktite on the rod bolts......rtv everywhere.

Sheesh

Ron

Another question. The heads are 821.
Is it normal for the intake guides to appear knurled or grooved?

First set I've worked on.

As I thought. If i’m The one to reassemble, I’ll have to figure out the torque on the bolts. No funny bearing wear, so I assume they are ok.
Thx

Cam turned out to be a Comp. Just never seen one marked that way.

222/234 .566/.576 113

Single bolt cam.

Quite mild.

PAC 1219 a good spring for this? I’m assuming it had Comp beehives in it, iirc they had breakage issues.

You can usually get it from ARP if you have the bolt diameter, grade, and underhead length of the bolt. The last set of Scat rods I used had 7/16” ARP 8740 bolts and were about 63ft-lbs with ARP Ultra Torque lube.

Thanks KCS. That is my plan when we get to that point. Some quick research showed that same number. But I haven’t measured the under head length yet.

I asked my cylinder head guy, he said it’s the way they make the 823 heads.

Aluminum Head Rebuilders here in Portland. He is an LS fan!

I’ll get a photo this evening.
