Plugging the AFM oil holes

Default Plugging the AFM oil holes

Drilling/tapping the AFM ports in the block. which is preferred? Allen head bolts or Set screws?

Set screws are fine. Use sealer.

I tapped mine and used Allen head 1/4” plugs. Not sure how a set screw would work? Nothing can protrude over the top of the tower, or the valley cover won’t bolt down. I think Katech sells a rivet kit for the towers, but I have no experience with it.

What is the advantage to blocking them off? The cover from my LS2 has a bunch of O rings already, I would assume to seal and block off? Looking around briefly I like the Lingenfelter rivets.

The O-rings apparently are not always leak-proof.

I use the LPE plugs no drilling required

3/8 x 24 by 3/8" long allen head set crews work perfect. Use the correct tap drill.
I used red Loctite for a sealer.

What plugs can be used on a “in-service” vehicle? Not everyone has the option to do this while in the “ mock-up” or “build” stage

I decided to go the same way after seeing Scott’s 434 build pictures. My block is still at RED awaiting custom billet caps. Scott, I forwarded Steve your pictures for reference and asked him to do this mod on my block.
