Pistons off center ok?

Default Pistons off center ok?

Just noticed this while doing some head work. Are these pistons ok being off center like that? This is an LSX 376 crate motor btw...

If you look at the edge of the piston to bore clearance, some of the pistons don't look like they are in the center of the bore and some do. Is that normal?

Normal. They'll center up while running.

It kinda just looks like photo aspect but I guess I think I see it on the far right what looks to be kind of like a shadow in the cylinder? That is I think where I see it at least.

I went and checked again. Yes you are right, that's the shadow on that one.

Glad to hear that and another engine builder told me the same thing as well this evening. Just making sure I am gonna be ok once I put all this back together. The motor is coming out for a clutch and ARP rod bolts (while I'm in there lol) since the rear seal needs to be replaced and I got most of it out already...

About the ARP rod bolts. You may want to rethink that, as you my need to resize the rods when putting new bolts in, ARP or otherwise.
I'm no expert, but have heard this numerous times on these forums.

It's always BEST to have a shop check or resize the rods when using a different bolt. And it's common practice during any rebuild. But I have seen many, many LS's get just a rod bolt upgrade while still in the car and last. Being the rods are PM and a cracked cap style, they hold concentricy quite well.

As for the OP's piston original question, they are fine.

I'm thinking about just replacing the powdered rods altogether with some forged ones

Last time I checked, the oil pan isn't required to be dropped for a clutch job.
