Default Fly cutting factory pistons

So in a recent thread Summit Racing replied and made a comment about factory pistons being fly cut was a time bomb. I'm simply curious what the forum consensus is as for the safety and longevity is when fly cutting pistons.

I’ve cut a few sets of OEM pistons and it really depends on how far you need to go. Deepest I’ve been with an OEM piston is about .060, and is still running great today.
In my circle track days, we custom ordered pistons without reliefs so we could cut our own reliefs as tight as possible, to make as much compression as absolutely possible. With those slugs, we ordered the crowns thick enough to cut on without worry, yet the piston had to be as light as we could get it as well.

My pistons are cut .120 me and hiossilver did them with Lindy tool. I have about 10k miles on it, 8200 rpm shifts and no issue. I have heard as much as .210 out of a LS3 piston being done.

OEM pistons have little or no extra material under them. Hypereutectic cast pistons shatter like glass. I know people say they notch them but people skate on thin ice and sometimes bad things happen. Cutting material off them also changes their weight and there’s another problem.
