Default My HorsePower Research HPR 468 build 2.0

I'm going to start a new thread for my Horsepower Research 468 refresh build instead of adding additional content to the original thread.... hopefully it will be easier to find the new results as we compare the improvements made to the long block during the recent rebuild and to continue our intake testing that got cut short.

The original thread can be found here https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...468-build.html

We have the car over at John's place (JMB) and are completing the installation this week with a first start scheduled by the end of the week.
Erik has a new lid he is sending me for my Holley high ram setup that has a native 112mm flange on it, so we can add that to the test.
Hopefully next week we can get the initial break in done, then back to manifold testing once we establish the new baseline with the new cam, springs, port work, etc.

New Monster LT-1 S triple organic to replace the Mcleod RXT-1200 twin.

The general changes to the long block....

Old hydraulic cam, PAC 1209X springs, and Johnson short travel ST2126LSR lifters for the old setup....

hydraulic cam card

New SR cam card

Morel link bar solid lifters LS, 0.842 diam, on center, std height
VS-JHE 10A-CP (PSI) Dual spring set, 1.310 OD, 0.900 ID, 170@2.030, 718@1.235, bind 1.170
Total Seal 4.185" bore custom ring set, Gas Ported set for CP piston
Callies Magnum CCW LS crankshaft 4.250 stroke, 2.100 pin,
ATI Damper, reconfigured for no 10% under drive due to throwing of A/C belt under WOT....a regularly reported issue in the LS7 world where higher than stock RPM operation (above 7K) exacerbates the issue.

Naiser Racing Components performed some additional head port work, bringing the intake from 275 to approximately 290+ cc. On their big Superflow they picked up 24+ cfm at .800 .....27+ at .900

A side note.... some of you know me personally and/or from other boards, but I'd also share my other side project that is kicking off.... my 1970 Chevelle that shares garage space with the Z06 is receiving some light ProMod treatment and a new drivetrain (as yet to be decided).

Hmmm.... the new cam card only shows .758" lift, but the springs are good to over an inch of lift, and the heads will keep flowing well to .900" of lift.

Do I smell a cam upgrade in the future?

Nice Chevelle, BTW.

I'm not usually a stickler for keeping things stock, but cutting up that nice of a chevelle seems like a waste to build a Pro Mod, especially when just about every panel you could need is available in the aftermarket.

LS cam cards usually use standard 1.7 rocker ratios for displaying lift
LS7 is 1.8

I won't be cutting anything on this car...hence my "light" ProMod updates like larger 4 wheel disc brakes from Baer Brakes, Viking coilovers on all 4 corners, UMI sway bars and tubular control arms, fuel injection instead of carb, larger SS wheels instead of thew factory 14", etc

Yep...Todd and Dan Barton do some amazing things over there. Erik introduced me to them and talked me into letting them do some extra work

I'd define that as Pro Touring, not Pro Mod. Beautiful car too!

A lot of new hardware and changes on 2.0. Can’t wait for results.
Nice Chevelle, will be even nicer and more fun to drive with the mods you plan for it.

I have done those very things and then some to my 70. Much more fun to drive. There’s not much on mine I haven’t changed, modded, or moved to make it a better car. Yours is beautiful!

JMB get's bored, so he decided to install most of the top end and accessories while I'm at work.

Did I miss it? What rockers did you go with??

I did the same to my chevelle also. You will love the coil overs, I also chose vicking and umi. I added a ctsv supercharger and
4l80e for a little more kick in the pants. Full flex fuel stuff also.

I run Crower Shaft Rockers on my Brodix heads... standard LS7 1.8 ratio.
I only outlined the changes/updates in this thread from the original build. To get the other details, look back in my original thread.
To save you a bit of time, the previous combination made 780 crank horsepower, which converted to 670 RWHP (SAE Dynojet) going thru my 3.90 rear gear ratio.

I thought about taking this engine out and putting it into the Chevelle, with a 4L80e, but we shall see.

Time to update the Chevelle with some tasteful LED headlights. Those old dim-yellow lights are awful lol
