Default Summit forged 4032 pistons

Hey, i am in the process of ordering parts for a ly6 built, stock stroke with a 2650 supercharger, street car with a small cam and ported heads, pump fuel in a toyota landcruiser

I was looking at https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...make/chevrolet pistons, because they are well priced and in stock. I didn't really want to go to a 2618 piston. Any feedback on how well these are made, or how they compare to Mahle 4032 piston or similar.

I’m pretty sure most will tell you 2618 for any boosted engine. I have no 1st hand experience though. I wouldn’t skimp on pistons. With that SC, I would just get Summits’ brand of rod and pistons 2618.

many people use stock pistons but limit their boost. Be sure to gap the rings for boost either way.

They dont offer those pistons in a .010 or .020 and i think .030 is starting to get too big for boost. PLus i was hoping to avoid the rattly forged short life pistons as its primarily a street car. I think 4032 have their place in boosted street cars, its not like people are going to be putting them in naturally aspirated motors. More interested to hear how they stack up against other brands with a similar composition.

I think there a lot more to picking piston than 4032 vs 2618. The specific design of the 4032 piston plays a role in how well it holds up or doesn't hold up with boost.

I used the 4032 stuff in my superchargered street car. 600 to the tire. Didn't want to wait for it to warm up to drive around. I have also used 300 shot of juice on the 4032 stuff. You'll be fine. I actually prefer the 4032 in a mild build.

Yeah cool thanks Fishmaster. The summit pistons look nice, i wasn't sure about the valve relief cutting down the side of the piston top but it should be ok. I certainly havnt heard anything about them being failure prone.

I'm pretty sure that Mahle forged pistons use 4032, at least at one time they did. IIRC, each alloy has its benefits, but can't remember specifics......

The 4032 mahle power packs been around a long time. You'd hear alot of bitching if they were prone to failure. I personally have not run across one that's broke a ring land in a street car.

Looks like a NA design. Not much skirt to be boost friendly and valve relief will surely be a soft spot.
