Fly cutting piston help ls3 / GPI ss4 Hey guys just recently started building my Ls3 C6 for NA build. I have 281cc gpi heads with .40 head gasket at a 62cc chamber
using their ss4 cam (cam specs below)
In./Ex. Duration236/252
In./Ex. Valve Lift
.646/.637
LSA113
ICL+4
Was wondering is anyone could give direction on fly cutting the piston to correct depth and correct pushrod length thank y’all.

How much were the heads milled? That plus the .011 from the stock.051 head gasket to arrive at your .040 (NOT.40) will be the amount to subtract from the normal 7.400 pushrod length. THAT SAID, you should still measure for your pushrod length. There is plenty of help here on how to do that.

the heads were milled from factory Ls3 heads
i am new to engine building

Milled to 62 cc does not tell me how much in thousandths was milled, which is needed to know how much shorter the pushrods need to be.
I think you need to educate yourself a bit more on engines, or just pay closer attention to what people ask you when looking for help.

Hopefully your piston doesn't stick out of the hole. .040 gaskets take some measuring. I found out the hard way on my first build. I could read the serial number of my pistons on the bottom of my heads with 62cc chambers.

I had to flycut my pistons the only thing i can add to video.is use 2 collars and get your measurement between the 2 collars and slip the lower 1 up and lock it in (I found It hard to get a good measurement off the top of the guide.hope this helps.there is a good write up on diy on fly cutting on corvette forum on c6 tech
