Lifters are here. Cam gets here later today. Just going to be waiting on the headgaskets. Lead time was 2-3 weeks. Hoping its closer to 2.
This weekend gonna install the cam and check PTV with the old gasket. Hoping its all good. I had a good amount of clearance with the last cam, so hoping its still good with this one. I'll also get a preliminary pushrod length measurement to see if what I currently have will be useful or not.
Old cam is out. Looks to have some small indentions on a few lobes. Most likely some lifter bounce going on. Would have liked to have a little more preload on them, but oh well. Overall, it looks great and so did the lifters that came out.
Since I no longer have the front feed intake, I decided to move the radiator. I put it standing up and leaning forward a little. This should cool much better. Although, it wasn't too bad laying down like it was. It only got hot in the middle of the day, in 100+ degree temps.

Here is a Spal one on my C6 Corvette. Basically unlocks trapped air in the corners. The fan is off to the right to avoid ABS box. The shroud is also funneled a little to help guide air. Dewitts sell the kit you cut the shroud to fit you size radiator goes from 22.5 to 27.5 inches wide depending on what you have and is about 18 inches tall.

New cam is in. Mocked up the head with the old gasket to check PTV clearance. I checked them at zero lash just to get the max travel out of them. Exhaust side was good on both the “pocket” and radial clearance. Intake side was good in the “pocket” but radial was tight. About .010”. So I taped everything off and opened up the radial clearance on all the pistons. Also took down a sharp edge that they all had on the end of the intake relief.
Installed some .015” shims under the exhaust springs to tighten up the coil bind clearance with the new cam. Didn’t know they already had some .010” shims, so I took those and put them under the intake springs. I did mock up a spring in the vice and the stated coil bind number from PSI is pretty much spot on.
Got a tracking number for the headgaskets. I should get them on Friday. So, I’ll have the heads installed this weekend and spend time figuring out the pushrods.

Oh, I got my injectors back the other day. The guy that cleaned them said they flowed pretty close to each other when he first got them, within ~2%. They got a little better after cleaning, into the 1% range. But did not see any issues with them. So might have some distribution issues with the plates. Might need to do a direct port.

Worst part of a direct port setup is the urge to increase the jet size, since you know distribution isn't an issue!

Pushrods are ordered. All intakes were within .001"-.002" of each other. Same with the exhaust. Should be able to dial in everything pretty easily.
Also started building the exhaust to the resonators. Decided not to go out of the sides of the car. It will just dump in front of the rear cradle and it will be very easy to remove when/if needed. Finished the driver side. Gonna start on the passenger side this weekend.

I wanted to do a side exit exhaust but I didn’t have that confidence in my abilities. This is a good compromise for weight and less bends. It should also take some edge off the exhaust note.

I was soooo close to getting it buttoned up when I accidentally broke a exhaust rocker. I didn't have the pushrod in the cup and put a little extra sauce on the ratchet to turn the motor over. When the pushrod got forced into the cup, the 700lb spring sent the *** end of the rocker flying. Luckily, I was able to find someone that had an extra and should be getting it by the weekend. I already got the driver side buttoned up and all the other ones on the pass side lubed and torqued. Just need to get that last one done and probably 1-2 hours worth of work to get everything else back together.
I did order another sheet of carbon fiber to try to make another air pan, but this time have it sit on top of the throttle bodies. I really want to have a hood on without a hole in it, lol. I will be putting the cowl hood back on it.
2 steps forward, 3 steps back....

Got the car fired up over the weekend. Don't have much more than idle time on it yet. But it's nice and snappy on the throttle. The resonators I installed sound great! They cut a ton of noise and now its more of a deep bass tone.
I ended up going through all of them one more time to make sure I had it all correct. Had to redo a few, I guess I didn't have them exactly on the base circle.

I had to adjust almost all of them after first startup. But i was a bit loose first time through since i knew i would adjust again. What i did find later was that all of my exhaust rockers were spot on, but all of my intake rockers were much looser than i set them. I checked lobe lifts, etc to make sure i didnt somehow kill all the intake lifters in like 20 miles (which just wouldn't make sense or a be an insane stroke of bad luck). Came to realize EOIC is quite literal. Exhaust just barely opening, Intake just about closed. The nature of me using the bump starter with plugs still in meant my exhaust valve was pretty wide open when i was setting the intake. My intake valves were always almost closed when i set the exhaust. Solid roller newbie lesson learned there i guess, cus just cracking the exhaust for the intake adjustment seems to be keeping the intake side happy.

Took the car out for a little spin last night. Roads were damp from some rain we got but I was able to do a short rip in 3rd up to about 7800rpm. Fueling was real close to that point, literally less than 1% correction. Will be interesting to see what happens after 7800.
The exhaust sounds amazing! So much quieter now but sounds smooth.
