Default Summit GPX Gas Ported Piston Rings

Our GPX Gas Ported piston rings have been working out really well for folks. We posted on it in the Gen 3 section. Check out this video we did with Lake Speed Jr. at Total Seal.

Looks promising. I would re-read your post I seen in the Gen III section.

Some of the wording doesn’t make sense. It says in the paragraph that gas ported caused build up and to later say yours doesn’t.

Hello, a gas ported piston does get plugged over a short time. Verticals generally sooner than laterals because the don’t see the detergents in the oil. So once we switch to a gas ported ring, one is that is always in rotation and the next is the detergents in the oils are more affective on steel than aluminum. So gas ported rings are the best way to do it as they are self cleaning.

Ok gotchya. Makes sense. I really wish I was planning on building a engine so I could do your 408 stroker kit with these new rings

Since you don't sell singles, is it okay to mix and match to get what's needed? For instance, my pistons are 1.2, 1.2, 2mm. You only sell 1, 1, 2 and 1.2, 1.2, 3mm. So I would need to buy both sets to get the correct rings. Are there any issues with this, as I know all the rings packs are tailored to each other?

I'm on the same page for reference...
I'm trying to figure out how to get past the middle ring at 1.2 & I'm at 1.5mm. The 1.2mm first ring and 3mm last ring go along with a older model ring sets pack like mines. JE pistons 1.2, 1.5, 3mm

Newer model pistons use LS/LT 1, 1, 2mm ring sets
I think that's the ring sizes..

Hi folks, we have 1.0 1.0 and 2.0. And also 1.2 1.2 3. Please let us know you’re bore sizes and we’ll ad them if you don’t see them.

Jay was talking 4.125 I think... but he'd need a Different ring package so he was asking if he could purchase them by singles having a 1/1/3mm ring set
I'm trying to get past the 1.5 middle ring with a 4.030 bore using a 1.2/1.5/3mm ring set.
What about spacer ring if need be...

We checked and here are the some options. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...kr=piston+ring

It looks like an option for some of the odd ducks would be to get our 1,1,2 and then purchase separate oil rings from Hastings.

Then for the 4.030, get our 1.2, 1.2, 3 and purchase a separate second ring.

If you guys, can give us the series or pistons that use these as standard, it helps us determine their bore size lineup.

Thank you.

I’m inquiring for stock LS7 pistons. So 4.125” 1.2mm, 1.2mm, 2mm. I purchased the 1, 1, 2 set you offer. So then I assume it’s safe to say I can also purchase the 1.2, 1.2, 3 set to get exactly what I need.

A silly question on these. What is predicted lifespan of these? I am speaking in terms of an NA pump gas big power daily app. Any insight is appreciated

It's hard to put a definitive answer on the expected lifespan. However, a gas-ported piston puts more load on the cylinder in the area adjacent to the gas port. This causes those areas to wear quicker. By using gas-ported rings instead, bore wear is even since the rings are always rotating. Oil is the lifeblood of your engine and stays cleaner longer using gas-ported rings. The reduction in blow-by is so large, that they will always be better than a conventional ring. These have been tested to over 10k street miles at present time and run like a Swiss watch.

Thank you. This is very helpful. We show about 9 part numbers in their FSR lineup. We’ll get these in process. It will take about 8 weeks but then we will always have them. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...0l-fsr-pistons

I put like 30k a year on more/less. Need a shortblock to make it 100k or so to be relevant.

The only guys who use up or destroy more **** than me is professional motorsports or Hoonigan...and they get paid to do it . I am seriously in constant motion. When I ran an office product business a while back, I put over 50k on a turbo Jetta in a year.
