Question Where to buy 4.185+ pistons for LSX

Hello guys !
We bought used LSX block with 4.0" stroke crank in it . Its already bored to 4.185 and not in good shape. So we need bigger than 4.185 pistons at least +0.01 or slightly more.
I read that it will be safe for that block enlarge bores up to 4.25 but I can't find pistons more than 4.185 (
Where can I buy such pistons ?

Sounds like probably a custom deal I think 4.185's are the biggest LS shelf piston. Pretty much any of the major manufacturers like Wiseco, Diamond, JE etc can custom make the pistons for an increased price, I believe.

Call Wiseco - I just got a set of pistons 4.19 bore. I think they might sell a 4.20 bore. Do you know the piston sleeve length of your block? It is probably around 5.6 inches or so - this will be helpful when ordering.

Gonna be custom made. Also going to be expensive, and take a while as well. Might as well go ahead and make these things nice, such as gas ports, thin ring pack, coatings, etc. It really doesn’t add too much more money, to an already very expensive purchase. Be patient as this might take several months, especially with winter coming. Winter is the busy season for rebuilds and JE, Wiseco, Diamond, will be very busy.
Youll need to know your deck height to get this done, as compression height will be one of the first questions that the engineers will want to know. You CAN NOT guess at this stuff.

If you just need to tighten them up (your pistons)001 you could send them to line2line coating and have them recoated .it take about 2 weeks to get them recoated and get them back

The block definitely need machining -one of bores badly scratched and 'painted in alu color' .
Dont think we should polish and reuse as it is (and we miss 1 piston of course)
Better rebore it

In your first post you mentioned going out to 4.25. That only leaves 0.15" between cylinders, you sure that's going to be ok on an LSX block?

I've got a resleeved 4.185 block and had kind of always heard if the walls were ever toast it's probably done for beyond a clean up hone, and 4.2" was probably a crapshoot.

I read that going up to 4.25 is safe but we don't want to - we need only + 0.02 to 4.185
Resleeving already thin walls for me looks unsafe
Cuz sleeves took additional space in block and weaken it
The only safe way I see to install sleeves is to let block be as it is and go to much smaller dia for pistons (maybe 4.0 or so)
But we better try to find(order) 4.187 or so

I ordered/and got some 4.190s from Wiseco - it will take a while but they can do it. I had to hone mine out .005. Diamond would be another piston manufacturer.

I ordered custom 4.190" bore pistons from RaceTec (Ex JE piston employees run this company).
