Knocking traced to exhaust on frame!!!
I spent yesterday swapping in 7100ch's because I thought then it was Rod Knock to find my crank in perfect new condition.
I must add that getting the vehicle to knock consistently was difficult and a huge factor in why I tore the upper and lower engine apart. People mention alot of tools to use as a stethoscope but the magnet on an antenna tube to retrieve dropped iron is the best. Mine has a polished half circle dome cap that is soft on the ear and it is just precise in the sound in the way it attaches to bolts. I had tried used a copper pipe and a rod on a cup. I almost thought it was the tranny rebuild I just did but the transmission was silent. I finally get the truck making the sound real well and It ended up being the mid exhaust tapping on the frame!!!
Im so happy that my engine is ok I went crazy looking for this knocking sound.
And no hard feelings Karen I still love you.
