Default Rate my lifters

I bought a partially assembled ls3 from a friend and he bought ls7 12499225 lifters from Amazon for the motor. They are new.
im probably going to replace them anyway but it would be interesting to know if they are real or not.

Those are GM lifters; commonly referred to as 'LS7 Lifters'......which you probably have in your LS3 already.

Look like the LS7 lifters I got from Summit. Except the crud. Looks like some foreign matter on the lifter plunger and surrounding area. Hopefully the rest of the engine is a bit cleaner than that.....

I thought I’ve read it’s easy to get knockoffs when buying on Amazon so I was hoping to see if anyone has seen a knockoff set first hand and can share some tips on identifying whether these are real or not

I cant help there, because I would never buy crucial, internal engine parts from Amazon. Just hear too many complaints, especially with cams and lifter trays.....

I tried a set of eBay lifters once when I didn't know any better, needless to say the engine sounded like a cat fight in a dumpster. Replaced with Melling lifters to resolve the problem. They looked identical to my eyes... If I remember correctly the Melling units (from Oriellys Auto Parts) DID NOT have part numbers while the knockoffs DID have part numbers.

Take a lifter to a dealer parts counter and compare to one they have in stock.
