BTW, I will throw a monkey wrench in your build and suggest this. Go with some 3.08 or 3.23 gears and do a BTR Stage 1 LS3 NA Cam and done. Will drive great, power everywhere, within 20hp of the Summit 8710 cam and it'll cruise at 90mph around 3000rpm. To me, that's perfect. Give it some thought. More rear gear= you have to cruise slower. I like going fast, I have stuff to do.

I appreciate the thought but I’ll get in my other car if I want to go slow haha.

The PSI springs work fine with the Summit cams, I have done a few of those combos. The advertised max lift is keep the stupid factor down. A real machinist will check and set-up the valvetrain accordingly and that's who should do yours. I edited my post you quoted and included the PAC 1207x springs which are .700 lift capable. I just like 150-160lbs on the seat up set-up as it's going to break in, that's normal. I have just seen so many .660 kits go limp, I don't even bother anymore.

I’ll be using the comp pro mag 1.8 roller rockers.

You would be much happier with performance and drivability imo.
My .02
My man. I wrote back my suggestion was the

Little Chopper LS Camshaft (222/232-108+3)

Duration at .050: 222/232
108 Lobe Center Angle with a 105 Intake Centerline
Lift with 1.7 Rocker Arm Ratio: .595"/.587"

And for a thought of something bigger, 230/238 on either 110 or 108.

If you care about going fast, strongly suggest putting a single plane on it and rev the thing to 7500 you'll make over 500whp and go deep 10's.

Fair enough, I'll throw another monkey wrench in the plan. Go ***** out and do a Lunati Voodoo High Lift 227/231 112lsa cam. Has .651/.651 lift 1.7 rocker. You are at the limit of the stock rocker, for sure, but this mf'r rocks. EVERYBODY on this board will poo-poo this cam, but it's all about set-up and not being cheap or lazy in doing it. PTV is going to have to be checked, obviously, but it can work. For an off the shelf cam in the range you want, this is hard to beat unless you call Cam Motion and have them do a semi-custom on the Navy grind.

Ok, then that narrows your options some. PAC 1207x springs for sure. The Spanks13 cam 230/238 or the old Spinmonster 230/234 on a 111lsa will both work great. I think the Spanks cam will make more torque.

And put a SINGLE PLANE on it like Spanks said. I was thinking it, but he said it first. 2in headers and a dual plane is bass-ackwards.
FYI, go back a couple pages on the forum, there is another guy with a serious Nova like yours doing and identical build, but with an auto. Lots of good info.

Hmm deep 10’s is definitely a goal. Now back to the drawing board for a bigger cam.

I’ll have to check that build out. I was going with the dual plane because my experience with single plane intakes on SBC’s on the street was not the best. Down low they would not be that responsive whereas the dual plane would come alive.

LS's are a different animal and I know what you mean on the single vs dual on the street. I'll be honest, putting a carb on this is backwards, but if you have to do it, I understand. Go with a Vic Jr and do some light porting to it. It's not that the dual plane is horrible, but the LS3 head intake port just likes a single plane, direct shot intake. Those two go together like peanut butter/jelly. Yes, the stock long runner plastic intakes make more torque down low, but the single plane rocks once it's rolling. Port Injection(on the single plane) would make it better, fyi. With 10.5 compression(you are a point low, fyi) and it sounds like you have fly cut pistons by the conversation we are having, I would put an adj cam gear in it and play with the advance to get the powerband where you want it, once the base combo is build. I still like the original Summit 8710R1 w/ the 1.8 rockers and PAC 1207x springs for overall fastest combo. It'll have long legs and get busy almost anywhere in the powerband. For a street car tough to beat.

I can bump the compression up some more for sure. Picking a cam is always tough. I also like the 8710R1.

This test showed the power difference on a 6.0 only showed 10hp difference in peak hp. The curves were pretty interesting as well. Makes me lean more towards dual plane when I see articles like this.

For a carb setup, buy both and try them. It's a cheap enough test. The huge difference is you can port the single plane easily, porting a dual plane is harder to make it consistent/even, but not impossible.

Ok after looking at a million different articles and talking to different builders I’m going to go with the dual plane like I initially planned. Only reason is because of the street use and the dual plane will outperform the single plane at lower rpm’s. I’d rather give up 7 hp on the big end to have it down low. If I was strictly racing then I’d go single plane.

With the larger camshaft (especially with high overlap), use annular boosters rather than dogleg for improved fuel atomization and caburetor signal. It'll help the throttle response and low-end torque.

Edit: Here's a good article showing the potential: https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/carburetor-showdown/

I’ve got stock pistons and rods but will be using ARP rod bolts and replacing all the other TTY bolts of course. I know people making way more and are running power adders so that’s why I figured the stock pistons will be fine. Being N/A and not making a thousand horsepower do you recommend aftermarket forged pistons?
