Default Which way rod bearings???

Question on which way these king bearings go? Dont see anything about it in the instructions that came in the box. If you look closely on the h beam with large bevel side i installed the bearings two different ways. One way the bearing is super close the the large bevel the other way its recessed or offset about .050 Not sure it matters

I’m not sure how you managed to turn the rod bearings around make them offset? The bearing tangs are spaced equally from each side of the rod. Anyhoo, the rod on the right side, closest to us is how it should end up. That deep bevel is designed to go toward the shoulders of the rod journal, because on aftermarket cranks, the rod journal has a radius there for strength. An OEM LS crank doesn’t have the radius…it’s flat at the edges. This is why most aftermarket crank/rod assemblies require “narrow” rod bearings…to allow for the radius.

If you look at the back of the bearing it will have a upper and lower marking on them.
the rod bearing should have come in separate packs.
and they will go both way
best thing you can do is lock your garage door when assembling a engine
the rod bearing is right the first one in the picture showing the bevel side
and it matters

yep....figured that out about a hr ago. Between having STD, .001, and X rod bearings here on the counter stuff was getting mixed up. With getting a bad set of cam bearings my first thought was these where made wrong also. Then I took the rod apart and realized it was just my mistake of placing the upper shell in the cap and lower shell in the rod.
