Default 6.0 with 24x
I bought a 2006 6.0 ot of a box truck and it looks like its got a 24x sensor in it.I was uder the impression that that year would be a 58x.Its got the black instead of grey sensor and the crank looks like the 24.Is this a normal thing for the 6.0 of that year

No, not really. It must be Gen III LQ4 I assume? They used that on the GMT 800s 2500HD trucks, which went to 2007. 2007 was a transition year on the 1500s. I don't know when the GMT 900 2500HD came out (2008?), but those were where the 58X LY6 came about.

Looks like on the box vans they used the same engine until 2007, then they switched to the LY6 in 2008, which is a 58X.

Out of hd trucks/commercial vans yes its normal and is an lq4 6.0

I have a 2006 LH6 5.3 and it has a 24X reluctor wheel and front mounted cam sensor just like an LS2. They're not uncommon.

Pretty sure the LQ4 in that year was the same.

It's not strictly a "year" thing.

The Ford Ranger build I am working on has a 2005 or 6ish Mercruiser LQ4 based (converted to LQ9) 6.0 with 24x and rear cam sensor but gen 4 floating pin rods.

thanks everyone.It has the floating pistons and basically gen 4 rods and pistons.It also has the rear mounted cam sensor and the black crank sensor.I just wasnt sure I thought it should have the grey crank and 58x reluctor.

this seems to be what I have.It has the rear cam sensor and black not grey crank sensor.It also has the gen 4 style pistons and rods.
